This is one of my favorite paintings. I imagine it as the realm composers go to when they die. Beethoven was my first inspiration, as I thought of his living off the green-red-green piano keys with their lakes. The ocean below represents the essence and soul of music composed by those who left Earth. But the canvas opens up back to Earth, while rivulets--river capillaries--run to the moon. The world of the campus appears suspended in space, perhaps indicating that the celestial 'housing' of the composers is temporary.
